Potholder Swaps

It's been a long time since I posted to my blog! I'm going to do better!
I have been enjoying quilting and sewing swaps with my online quilting friends! I recently particated in a couple of potholder swaps. Now I have beautful designer potholders!
These are the two sets that I received. The first set was made by madebymonet. The design and colors are so pretty and soft.

I asked for blue, green, and gray and my partner,craftyvegasmom made these beautiful potholders. The dresden plate is actually big enough to be used as a hot pad on the table.

The hexagon potholders are the first set I made. My fingers were sore after sewing all these hexagons together! One of these days I want to make some of these for myself!I made these for mamacjt.

My partner, whatcomesnext, requested reds for her potholders. I was late in finishing so I made some fun "extras."

Spring Fling Mini Quilt Swap!

I recently joined a mini quilt swap on flikr and each month that I participate I will be swapping a mini quilt with another quilter anywhere in the world! My first partner and I found out that we didn't live too far from one another, so we decided to meet for lunch and swap our quilts.

This is Tina and me showing off our little quilts. It was fun getting to know each other and enjoying a delicious meal at Panera Bread-yummy!

My fun little mini quilt! If you look closely you can see the free motion quilting going around the basket. The prairie points are awesome. I love it!

I love doing embroidery work so this Easter scene was a fun one to make. I just started one for me too!

I never thought a hedgehog could be "cute" but I think he is!

Here's a picture of everything together. Tina made the little Easter basket with cards and I made the embroidered needle case. We enjoyed spoiling each other since we were meeting in person! Best of all, I have a new friend.

"Give a Day Get a Day" at Disneyland!

I had to include a closeup of these turtles! Aren't their faces adorable!

I made these cute pillowcases for Rady Children's Hospital in

San Diego. Each child with a chronic illness chooses two different

pillowcases for their stay in the hospital and then takes them home

This was the service project I chose for the "Give a Day, Get a Day" Disneyland

Project, but we are also going to make a whole lot more at church. Go check out

the site-these children are such an inspiration and the program is amazing!

It's great to be able to bring a little joy into their lives. I will definitely stay

involved with this program. If anyone wants to donate bright, fun fabrics,

I will be happy to sew them into pillowcases!

A Game of Tag!

My daughter posted this 'tag' on her blog and I thought it would be fun to join in:

Here's mine:
This photo was taken on April 8, 2009. I went to the San Diego Wild Animal Park with my sister and my twin nephews. They loved feeding the lorakeets! We had such a fun time and this picture reminds me that I need to spend more time with them! I'm babysitting next week, so we will get to spend some time together-yay! Games, reading, and playing. They are so sweet and fun! I can't wait!

Kapria's quilt!

I had so much fun making this quilt for Kapria! I love how it turned out. Shar picked
all the fabrics and it is so bright and cheerful! This quilt was a long time project, but once
we settled on the fabrics, it went together pretty quickly. It's an interesting photo with the sun
shining through, but I think it looks kind of cool!


I think it's always fun to see the back too! I will post pictures of Kapria with the
quilt as soon as I get them! I hope Kapria enjoys snuggling with this quilt for a
long long time!

What a Deal!

Every year Bates Nut Farm has a sale the day after Christmas and

EVERYTHING in the store is half price for that day! I love to go

and look and dream and sometimes buy those items I just can't

live without! Well, I found the best deal this year I just had to share!

This darling little cabinet was tucked into a corner but it didn'thave a price tag on it. So off I went to find one of the employess. Mind you,this sale is crazy and there are always lots and lots of women crowdedinto this little store to find that one special item. So getting the attentionof an employee is difficult, to say the least. Finally, I was able to speak tothe store owner and she told me that because the cabinet had a split on the side, she would be able to recieve a credit from the manufacturer and she would sell it to me at a reduced price. She said that usually it would sell for around$200, so I was prepared for a hefty price even with the sale and discount.

So I was amazed and thrilled when she said

she would give it to me for....

$20!!!!

Whoohoo! So of course I snapped it right

up and brought it home! Dan is going to help me fix it,

which will entail gluing the wood together

and putting clamps on it! Crazy I know!

I'm so happy :)

The Beauty of Coimbra

I recieved these three pictures from Mckenon
showing the area he just left.

I'm writing what he wrote on the back of the pictures:

I was so happy to receive these photos! I haven't seen any pictures in awhile, so it's nice to see how good he's looking. He's in a new area now, so I look forward to tomorrow's email and hearing all about how things are going.

Birthday Celebration

October 28, 2009. Dan took the day off for his birthday.

It was a day for doing whatever he felt like. We slept in and then

went to breakfast at IHOP. Then we went walking on the beach.

Even though it was a bit overcast, it was a fun time.

We forgot the camera so we took these two photos with Dan's phone.
They came out pretty good! After the beach we went driving around
looking at motorcycles, one of the items on Dan's wish list!
For dinner we went to one of our favorite restaraunts,Stewart Anderson's
Black Angus. We pulled up to the restaraunt and found that it had closed
down! Not a car in the parking lot. Big bummer. I called around and found
that the one in Temecula was open so another road trip! We had a
wonderful dinner. There was a lotof driving that day, but we had fun!
