A Game of Tag!

My daughter posted this 'tag' on her blog and I thought it would be fun to join in:

You just open the first picture folder on your computer, and pick the 10th photo. Then tell us a little bit about it.
Here's mine:
This photo was taken on April 8, 2009. I went to the San Diego Wild Animal Park with my sister and my twin nephews. They loved feeding the lorakeets! We had such a fun time and this picture reminds me that I need to spend more time with them! I'm babysitting next week, so we will get to spend some time together-yay! Games, reading, and playing. They are so sweet and fun! I can't wait!

Kapria's quilt!

I had so much fun making this quilt for Kapria! I love how it turned out. Shar picked
all the fabrics and it is so bright and cheerful! This quilt was a long time project, but once
we settled on the fabrics, it went together pretty quickly. It's an interesting photo with the sun
shining through, but I think it looks kind of cool!


I think it's always fun to see the back too! I will post pictures of Kapria with the
quilt as soon as I get them! I hope Kapria enjoys snuggling with this quilt for a
long long time!

What a Deal!

Every year Bates Nut Farm has a sale the day after Christmas and

EVERYTHING in the store is half price for that day! I love to go

and look and dream and sometimes buy those items I just can't

live without! Well, I found the best deal this year I just had to share!

This darling little cabinet was tucked into a corner but it didn'thave a price tag on it. So off I went to find one of the employess. Mind you,this sale is crazy and there are always lots and lots of women crowdedinto this little store to find that one special item. So getting the attentionof an employee is difficult, to say the least. Finally, I was able to speak tothe store owner and she told me that because the cabinet had a split on the side, she would be able to recieve a credit from the manufacturer and she would sell it to me at a reduced price. She said that usually it would sell for around$200, so I was prepared for a hefty price even with the sale and discount.

So I was amazed and thrilled when she said

she would give it to me for....

$20!!!!

Whoohoo! So of course I snapped it right

up and brought it home! Dan is going to help me fix it,

which will entail gluing the wood together

and putting clamps on it! Crazy I know!

I'm so happy :)

The Beauty of Coimbra

I recieved these three pictures from Mckenon
showing the area he just left.

I'm writing what he wrote on the back of the pictures:
"All 3 of these are in Lousa, which is a village
an hour south of Coimbra, Portugal."


"This was in the valley next to these little slate villages."

"This was a castle they called a pocket castle because

of the size. It was cool and really pretty. We hiked

all over this valley."

I was so happy to receive these photos! I haven't seen any pictures in awhile, so it's nice to see how good he's looking. He's in a new area now, so I look forward to tomorrow's email and hearing all about how things are going.

Birthday Celebration

October 28, 2009. Dan took the day off for his birthday.

It was a day for doing whatever he felt like. We slept in and then

went to breakfast at IHOP. Then we went walking on the beach.

Even though it was a bit overcast, it was a fun time.

We forgot the camera so we took these two photos with Dan's phone.
They came out pretty good! After the beach we went driving around
looking at motorcycles, one of the items on Dan's wish list!
For dinner we went to one of our favorite restaraunts,Stewart Anderson's
Black Angus. We pulled up to the restaraunt and found that it had closed
down! Not a car in the parking lot. Big bummer. I called around and found
that the one in Temecula was open so another road trip! We had a
wonderful dinner. There was a lotof driving that day, but we had fun!

Happy Birthday Honey! I love you!

Missing Mom

Today is one year from the day that Mom passed away.

We still miss her so much, but we know she is happy!

We missed seeing what kind of fun Halloween costume

she would have worn this year!

Mom loved spending time with her grandkids! And

they loved her. She always made them laugh!

Farewell to our Missionary

Wednesday, August 5, 2009. Nicole and Jeff gave Mckenon a

Hanayama puzzle and he was determined to figure it

out before he went into the MTC.

He got it done in about 1 1/2 minutes!

When we arrived, we got out of the cars to take pictures.

Weston wanted a picture just like Uncle Mckenon. A

future missionary!

I love this picture of Elder Abreu. He looks his usual
calm, cool, and collected self.


We were allowed to take one car to drop Elder Abreu off,
so we ALL piled into Jeff and Nicoles' van! When we got
up to the curb, we were welcomed by a couple of Elders.
We were able to get out for a minute, say our goodbyes, give
final hugs, and that was it! It was hard

There goes our missionary into the MTC.

There are so many mixed feelings at that moment.

Our youngest child walking into a great adventure and leaving

our home empty of the children that
have filled it for so long.

We are sad and proud at the same time.

On the Way!

On the way to the MTC we went out to breakfast at The Cracker Barrel. Yum!
The food there is so good. Afterwards we took pictures outside the restaurant. Kapria had
to seize the opportunity to walk around in my shoes! I think
we were actually trying to prolong the time so we wouldn't have
to say goodbye to Mckenon!
